Religions, as well as the studies that attempt to understand and explain them, have suffered significant impacts from the environment in recent decades, both as movements and as forms of thought. The demands of devotees range from access to the Christian field. The development of a theological discourse, distinct in many respects from that of men, is marked by the strong influence of feminist ideas. Revisions of existing interpretations of sacred texts and the proposition of new interpretations are a constant among feminist theologians. Doctrines and institutional organization have been the target of much criticism due to new feminist theological developments.
