The methodology of this study was based on an extensive literature review, analyzing scientific articles, books, and reports related to school dropout in Brazil. Furthermore, official educational data and statistics were used to support the analysis of the causes and their implications. A qualitative approach was applied to understand the nuances and complexity of the phenomenon. The expected results of this study seek to elucidate the main causes of school dropout in Brazil, offering a comprehensive overview of the problem. Furthermore, it aims to highlight the interconnection between socioeconomic, cultural, and educational factors that contribute to dropout. This deeper understanding will enable the formulation of effective strategies to mitigate dropout and promote student access to and retention in school. School dropout is a complex challenge that requires a multidimensional approach. The causes are intrinsically linked to socioeconomic, cultural, and structural factors, including poverty, lack of access to educational resources, violence, social inequalities, and poor quality education. Mitigating this problem requires integrated actions involving effective public policies, investments in educational infrastructure, teacher training, inclusion programs, and community outreach. Quality education is fundamental to the country's development, and reducing school dropout rates is an essential step along this path.
