Humans live in a capitalist world, and consumption is linked to the survival and perpetuation of the species itself. It is linked to the need to satisfy our most natural impulses, as a primary means of maintaining life. Public servants have greater incentives and easier access to credit, and encouragement to purchase goods and services, a fact evident in discounts and loans. This "ease" is directly related to the concept of financial stability. This study's overall objective is to analyze the impact of consumerism on the lives of public servants in Neópolis, Sergipe. Specifically, it is necessary to consider the multiple perspectives of this process, analyzing the economic aspects, the environmental impacts, and the effects on mental health and well-being. To this end, we answer the question: What are the impacts of consumerism on today's society? Restricting the study to public servants in Neópolis, Sergipe, these professionals face specific challenges related to consumption and debt, which deserve further investigation. To carry out this work, we analyzed articles and books that address the issue of consumption and its consequences for personal lives. Currently, public office in Brazil is attracting significant interest due to its higher salaries compared to other sectors and job security. It is clear that the majority of public servants are women, but they receive lower salaries, performing the same duties as men.
