Abstract

This article addresses public education policies in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the use of technology as an essential tool in this new reality. Its guiding question is: Given the reality imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, how can technological tools minimize school distancing, and do Brazil's public education policies meet the new reality of the education system? The research analyzed scientific productions published between 2016 and 2020 in the following websites: Capes Journals, BVS, and Scielo. The objective of this research is to analyze public education policies during the pandemic and how technologies can be allies of learning. Structured descriptors in DeCS and MeSH were used. Data collection was carried out in April 2021. Scientific articles related to the topic and published less than five years ago were used as inclusion criteria, and scientific articles that did not address the topic of public education policies and the COVID-19 pandemic were excluded. Given the above, we conclude that it is necessary to implement modern public education policies that can offer safe paths to follow in times of extreme crisis like the one we are currently experiencing, in order to minimize their impacts. Education professionals must seek to improve themselves in more than one area of knowledge. Families must become increasingly involved in the teaching-learning process. Students must also commit to their studies, becoming creators of their own knowledge, thus becoming better citizens and more capable in everything they undertake.
