The habit of reading is crucial for a child's development, and with practice, children grow mentally in several ways, as it stimulates the imagination, develops creativity, develops linguistic skills, works on emotions, and improves communication skills. This research sought to analyze scientific literature on the relationship between reading, family, elementary school, dyslexia, and metacognition. It analyzed scientific productions published between 2015 and 2019 in the journals SciELO, CAPES, MEDLINE, and LILACS. This is a systematic review of integrative literature, using structured descriptors in DeCS and MeSH. Data collection took place between August and September 2019. Scientific articles were included, and articles that did not address the topic under study were excluded. We hope to understand that the family plays a fundamental and crucial role in a child's learning process, and that this institution is extremely important for students with dyslexia and even those without. They will have better metacognitive performance when school and family work together.
