Abstract

This study aims to understand and portray aspects of groundwater sources and how they can be used coherently for a given population, contextualizing some rich supply resources, such as wells, aquifers, and other groundwater sources. The problem arises from the unplanned exploitation of groundwater sources and deficient inspection and regulation processes, sometimes leading to pollution and associated environmental degradation. Based on theoretical approaches developed by Guimarães (2021), Leite (2021), Hirata (2019), and others, the study investigated the nuances that permeate the supply processes through groundwater sources. The integrative systematic review study searched specialized libraries for articles published in the last five years on the central theme. The results highlighted some deficiencies related to the lack of control over the sources in question, considering the number of illegal drillings that cannot be measured. Furthermore, they also reported on the territories covered by these water sources and the water dissemination capacity in each region.
