Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has historically been associated with childhood, contributing to the invisibility of autistic adults who did not receive an early diagnosis. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of diagnoses made in adulthood, bringing to light profound emotional, social, and identity issues. This article aims to analyze the main changes and feelings experienced by adults after an autism diagnosis, considering psychological, social, and educational aspects. The research is based on a literature review of recent studies on the subject, highlighting feelings such as relief, belonging, grief, fear, and identity reconstruction. It concludes that late diagnosis, although challenging, can represent an important starting point for self-knowledge, validation of lived experiences, and the promotion of social inclusion.
