This article addresses the problems of the PR-317 highway in Brazil, focusing on the stretch that connects Astorga to Maringá, in the state of Paraná. The study investigates the perception and experience of highway users regarding its quality and impact on their daily activities. Through a qualitative approach, questionnaires were applied to residents of Astorga who work and/or study in Maringá. The results indicate that most respondents use the highway frequently and face mechanical problems, considering the highway's quality to be very poor. Many would be willing to exchange leisure activities in Maringá for other cities due to the poor condition of the highway. The study highlights the importance of road infrastructure for the economic and social development of the region and emphasizes the need for investment and adequate maintenance of highways.
