Abstract

Fertilization management for sweet potato cultivation is of fundamental importance to achieve good productivity and viability in cultivation, especially when using alternative and lower-cost materials, replacing chemical fertilizers. The objective of this study was to evaluate which source of organic fertilizer, especially cattle or goat manure, provides a higher yield of sweet potatoes in the Roraima savannah. The experiment was conducted from April to July 2023 in a savanna area, in the location Vicinal 2, Polo 1, Sítio Manancial, a rural area in the municipality of Boa Vista, in the State of Roraima. The experimental design was in randomized blocks, arranged in a split-plot scheme, with four replications. Two organic fertilizers were tested in the plots (goat manure and cattle manure) and in the subplots five doses of these manures were tested (0, 6, 12, 18 and 24 t ha-1). The characteristics of total root number, commercial root number and non-commercial root number, total root productivity, commercial root productivity and non-commercial root productivity were evaluated. The data were subjected to analysis of variance, with the level of significance using the F test at 5% probability. The results obtained allow us to conclude that goat manure promotes a higher productive yield of sweet potatoes compared to cattle manure, in which the use of 13 t ha-1 is the most recommended to obtain a higher productive yield of cultivated sweet potatoes. in the Roraima savanna.
