The objective of this study is to assess the inclusion of people with special needs in the Brazilian education system. Its guiding question is: How is the inclusive education process in schools progressing and its challenges? The research analyzed scientific publications published between 2018 and 2023 in the following websites: Capes, BVS, and Scielo journals. Data collection took place in September 2023. Scientific articles related to the topic and published less than five years ago were used as inclusion criteria, and scientific articles that did not address the topic of inclusive education in the education system were excluded. As we know, inclusive education is one of the new challenges for school management, given the new demands placed on schools in the context of a democratic and changing society. Today, schools are gaining public attention in a global society and a knowledge-based economy, recognizing that education has great strategic value and is an important qualitative condition for personal development in any social environment.
