INTERACTION BETWEEN THE INTERNET AND THE METAVERSE

Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder has increasingly attracted interest in the field of mental health, as it has become increasingly important to understand it and diagnose it early in order to develop effective interventions to improve the quality of life of those affected. Therefore, this article is part of this context, aiming to highlight the impact of autism on family dynamics. To this end, we adopted a qualitative, exploratory approach based on an integrative literature review. Analysis of the data resulted in the development of two main categories: (1) "Impact of the ASD Diagnosis on the Family and the Need for Support," which examines changes in family structure and interpersonal relationships, as well as the need for emotional and psychological support; and (2) "Family Adaptation and Resilience to the ASD Diagnosis," which explores the strategies families develop to cope with challenges and promote well-being in the face of the diagnosis. Thus, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the impact of ASD on family dynamics, highlighting the importance of sensitive approaches and multidimensional support. The role of psychologists emerges as a fundamental pillar in helping families deal with the challenges of autism. Furthermore, the delineation of the categories highlights the complexity of this scenario and the need for interventions that consider its multiple dimensions. Future research should continue exploring this topic, considering the different cultural, age, and socioeconomic characteristics that permeate families impacted by ASD.
