Abstract

This experience report aims to share how narrative, inspired by the approach of the book "The Story Tent", can be a valuable tool for the integral formation of teachers. The Story Tent, as an integrative care practice, uses storytelling to promote reflection and transformation. Similarly, the guidance of the Formation Memorials sought to create a space for listening and sharing stories, where students could re-signify their experiences and project their professional future. The experience of guiding the writing of Formation Memorials with Pedagogy students revealed the transformative power of narrative in teacher education. By creating a guidance space that valeu narrative and reflection, students were able to share their life stories and significant objects, establishing a connection between the past and the present that is fundamental for personal and professional growth. The approach demonstrated that narrative can contribute to the development of essential metacognitive skills for lifelong learning, allowing students to develop greater awareness of their own practices and thought processes. Additionally, reflection on practice was also enriching for the teacher educator, who was able to revisit her own past and re-signify her experiences. The experience reinforced the importance of the teacher's role as a mediator of students' personal and professional growth. Narrative proved to be a powerful tool for teacher education, promoting self-knowledge, personal and professional growth, and autonomy.
