SYNTROPIC AGRICULTURE, TEACHER TRAINING AND EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: CHALLENGES AND POTENTIALS

This article explores the relevance of Syntropic Agriculture in teacher training, highlighting how this agroecological practice can be a catalyst for education for sustainable development (ESD). Through a detailed analysis of the literature on ESD and Syntropic Agriculture, as well as the Pedagogical Project of the Course (PPC) of the Bachelor's Degree in Rural Education of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), we discuss the potential and challenges of this integration. We argue that the incorporation of Syntropic Agriculture into teacher training curricula not only promotes deeper environmental awareness, but is also essential for the effective implementation of UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our critical stance seeks to highlight the need for a reformulation of teacher training that prioritizes transformative pedagogical practice.
