This article is a systematic review of gamification as an active methodology within the teaching-learning process. Its guiding question is: Given today's dynamic and fast-paced society, what impact has gamification had on the teaching-learning process in basic education? The research analyzed scientific productions published between 2018 and 2022 on the websites: BVS and Periódico Capes. The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of gamification applied to teaching-learning in basic education, using structured descriptors in DeCS and MeSH. Data collection took place in March 2023. Scientific articles related to the topic and published less than five years ago were used as inclusion criteria, and scientific articles that did not address the topic of gamification in society and schools were excluded. Given the above, we conclude that the application of gamification in basic education learning is notable and that, in all articles analyzed for this systematic review, the application of this methodology consistently proves positive and is capable of motivating, engaging, and providing moments of interactivity and exchange between students and teachers.
