Abstract

This article explores the intersection between Law and Art, analyzing literary representations of contracts in the works "The Merchant of Venice" by William Shakespeare and "The Auto da Compadecida" by Ariano Suassuna. The research adopts an exploratory and descriptive approach, emphasizing the importance of clarity and precision in contractual drafting. The study reveals that, in both works, the clauses of non-compliance present extreme and often unattainable elements in practice. The analysis seeks to contribute to the understanding of the complex relationships between Law and Art, highlighting the reciprocal influence between these areas. By exploring the practical application of contractual clauses, the article emphasizes the need for careful drafting to ensure the effectiveness of contracts, aligning with the principles of the Brazilian Civil Code. These reflections have practical implications in legal contexts, emphasizing the importance of interpreting contracts in a fair and contextualized manner.
