Abstract

Art authentication process is a technical procedure carried out by a specialized professional with the aim of assessing the authenticity, as well as the conservation conditions and other aspects related to a work of art. Through contextual, stylistic, technical, and scientific approaches associated with the artist, it is possible to provide an impartial opinion, based on expert knowledge and evidence, about the characteristics and particularities of an artistic object. The case presented in this article refers to the process of attributing the authorship of an oil painting on canvas to the renowned Brazilian artist Emiliano Di Cavalcanti.
