CRIMINOLOGY AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR THE FORMULATION OF PUBLIC SECURITY POLICIES

This scientific article has as its main characteristic the initiative of scientific research on the theme of Criminology in the creation of Public Policies that combat and represent crime. To this end, initially, this research conceptualizes what Criminology is, as well as what Public Policies are. After this interlude, the study addresses the central issue of the theme, dealing with the support offered by Criminology in the creation of Public Policies to combat crime, as well as in its representation. The methodology applied to this work is qualitative, being based on extensive research and bibliographic review, in order to encompass in depth, and considering the format of the work, the largest possible amount of information and data relevant to the theme. It is concluded that a deeper understanding of the theme is necessary, as it is divided by opposing studies, hence the need for continuous debate on the subject.
