WATER CRISIS (2024) IN THE ALCEBÍADES STREAM: IMPACTS AND CHALLENGES FOR WATER SUPPLY IN JUARA-MT

Abstract

This study analyzes the water crisis in the Alcebíades Stream and its impacts on the water supply in Juara-MT. The objective is to understand the factors that contributed to the water scarcity and to propose mitigation strategies. The research is justified by the urgency in addressing the crisis and its effects on the local quality of life. Using a qualitative, descriptive, and documentary methodology, the study reveals a significant reduction in the stream's flow and in the basin's forest cover. The results indicate the need for integrated actions, including basin conservation, diversification of supply sources, and environmental education programs, to guarantee the future water security of Juara.
