Abstract

Lower limb amputation can cause postural changes and balance deficits that compromise individuals' functionality and mobility. Objective: To verify the effects of an exercise protocol based on the Pilates method on body posture and balance in men with lower limb amputation. Methodology: A quasi-experimental and prospective study was carried out with six male amputees, evaluated by the Software for Postural Assessment (SAPO) and the Berg Balance Scale after a Pilates intervention for 12 weeks. Results: An improvement in balance and positive changes in variables related to postural alignment were observed after the intervention period. Conclusion: Exercises based on the Pilates method can contribute to improving postural control and balance in individuals with lower limb amputation.
