Abstract

Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) is a minimally invasive technique widely used in pediatric dentistry for the treatment of dental caries. This study aimed to analyze the clinical protocols of ART, including restorative materials, clinical efficiency, and modified approaches, such as silver-modified atraumatic restorative treatment (SMART). The outcomes indicate that ART is effective, especially when combined with high-viscosity glass ionomer cements. However, longevity is directly related to cavity depth. The literature also demonstrates the advantage of adding silver diamine fluoride in caries control. It can be concluded that ART is an efficient strategy, but it depends on clinical criteria and the appropriate selection of materials.
