This paper aims to critically analyze the challenges and potential of e-learning in higher education, with an emphasis on the role of teachers, the use of digital tools in hybrid learning, and the structural barriers that limit its implementation. The methodology used is bibliographic research, based on studies between 2019 and 2024, which explore different perspectives on e-learning, such as the contributions of Cunha et al. (2020), Nascimento and Silva (2023), and Garcia (2022). The study addresses the transformative role of the teacher in the digital environment, highlighting the need for continuous training to handle new technologies. Furthermore, it discusses the use of e-learning tools in hybrid teaching and how they can promote greater interactivity and personalization, although there are still infrastructure and access limitations. The analysis concludes that for e-learning to fulfill its innovative role in higher education, a balance between technology adoption and continuous support for teachers and students is necessary. Effective pedagogical planning and overcoming technological barriers are essential to ensure inclusive and quality education.
