AN APPROACH TO THE IMPORTANCE OF OPERATIONS RESEARCH AND LOGISTICS IN THE VARIOUS SEGMENTS OF AGRIBUSINESS

Abstract

In view of recent technological advances in agricultural production activities, seeking to increase productivity and reduce production and transportation costs, a methodology that can be applied to find solutions to recurring problems is Operational Research, which has been increasingly applied to solve problems in the most diverse areas of knowledge, especially in recent decades. Due to easy access to computers, software and cell fhone applications, it has also been helping in the decision-making processes in various activities in the rural production sector. The objective of this work is to present a bibliographic review on concepts and applications of Operational Research and Logistcs in agribusiness through Linear Programming, using the Simplex Method. For better understanding, some of the foundation and applications of the Simplex Method were presented, proving that or is a powerful tool, capable of bringing results that are difficult to achieve without its help, as it improves the quality of information, leading to better decisions and, consequenthy, better profits with lower costs for the rural producer.
