This article addresses the intrinsic relationship between theoretical perspectives on school inclusion and contemporary pedagogical practices, with special attention to Distance Education (DE) and the fight against ableism. Based on Public Policies, Laws and Decrees, such as the National Policy for Inclusive Special Education in Brazil, and theoretical frameworks that bring to light reflections and actions regarding inclusion, it argues about the segregationist paradigm and the adoption of an inclusive and anti-ableist culture. It is important to highlight that the effective realization of the educational rights of people with disabilities requires effective Public Policies, continuing education for education professionals, continuous adaptation of education systems, and the valuing of diversity as an enriching element, among other factors.
